A Sense Of Spirit

Tumacacori
Here Father Kino came from Mexico in 1691 to teach the Indians
how to build irrigation systems to grow food, fruits, and livestock.
They were under constant harassment by Geronimo and his tribe of
warriors, but they persevered and survive today as the Pima or
Tohono O’odham tribe. Tumacacori is a National Monument, south of
Tucson, Arizona, and a monument to the civilizing influence of the
Spanish Friars in the southwest.
